We Recommend
These are our personal views which we have formed over 16 years of fitting literally thousands of garage door and remote controls, our experiences in fitting, warranty situations and customer satisfaction and feed back on products. Independence of a manufacturer is key.
We are often asked which door you would go for? I would love to choose every customers door, that would be brilliant, but it’s not going to happen.
It’s sometimes difficult because of the preferences different people have, budget, design, colour operating style; drive through width and of course availability of certain products in certain sizes and clearances within the garage itself, which can sometimes reduce choice.
On my Garage at home I have insulated roller doors, I need all the space I can get in the garage, otherwise I would have sectional doors and my parents have insulated sectional doors because they wanted insulation and the Georgian design, space in the garage wasn't’ an issue.
Repairs .
That wherever possible, the original manufactures parts are used. These may be slightly more expensive than Patrern parts, but ensures that you have the best repair available. Whilst fitting the right specification of product. A new door is often cheaper than the combined price of all the spares without a door panel; it should be a consideration with regard to the safe working life span of a repaired door, other than cables. Bent or split doors are simply not satisfactorily repairable. Older door although sometimes well built, did not have the health and safety considerations of today’s market place and are sometimes therefore a little less safe than we would all want.
Canopy Doors
For Cheap and Cheerful not too bothered about quality but want a cheap price we suggest Henderson or Cardale Doors. Manufactured in the UK and built to budget, for your budget are now part of the same group of companies , see our garage door news for details.
For Decent Quality, German engineering and a well made door we recommend Garador manufactured in the UK or Hormann.
Tracked Doors
We don’t recommend using cheap doors on tracked gear. Henderson and Cardale do the complete range competitively prices.
Use a well engineered and sturdy door Garador, Noverferm or Hormann. Especially if using timber or Grp doors.
Roller Doors
For single skinned roller doors we recommend Steel-line.
For insulated doors we recommend the Premier insulated 77mm lathed door.
Sectional Doors
Again we recommend the German engineering and would recommend Garador, Teckantrump, Noverferm and Hormann sectional doors. Depending upon sizing, colour and finish required some have longer lead times than others.
Side Hung
We recommend Garador.
